Why is our 300th-anniversary celebration so significant?
While we want to highlight that 2020 was our 300th year in at White Chimneys, the celebration is not just all about us…
Let’s take a little time to learn some history.
In the year 1698, William Penn signed his first treaty with Native Americans 60 miles outside of Philadelphia.
When Penn returned to England after signing this treaty, people began to inhabit the “Gap in the Hills,” an area 60 miles outside of Philadelphia where this particular treaty was signed.
Over the course of many years, this area known as the “Gap in the Hills” has become present-day Gap, Pennsylvania.
William Penn played an important role in putting Gap, PA on the map and making it a part of history. And not only that, the events that took place in Gap, and other cities in Pennsylvania, helped shape our country and create what we know it to be today. That is what our 300th-anniversary celebration is all about!
We want to tie together the history of our country, the city we call home, and the property we have been blessed to maintain. Not only this but we long to share this history with many people around the world and those who come to celebrate our 300th year.
